چکیده

We calculate the autocorrelation functions (or shifted moments) of the characteristic polynomials of matrices drawn uniformly with respect to Haar measure from the groups U(N), O(2N) and USp(2N). In each case the result can be expressed in three equivalent forms: as a determinant sum (and hence in terms of symmetric polynomials), as a combinatorial sum, and as a multiple contour integral. These formulae are analogous to those previously obtained for the Gaussian ensembles of Random Matrix Theory, but in this case are identities for any size of matrix, rather than large-matrix asymptotic approximations. They also mirror exactly the autocorrelation formulae conjectured to hold for L-functions in a companion paper. This then provides further evidence in support of the connection between Random Matrix Theory and the theory of Lfunctions.

Autocorrelation of Ratios of L-functions

Conjectures for the moments of L-functions have been sought for many decades, with very little progress until the introduction of random matrix theory into the subject [3, 26, 27]. The predictions using random matrix theory provide plausible conjectures for the leading order asymptotics of the moments of a family of L-functions. More recently, conjectures for all of the main terms of the moment...

Generalized numerical ranges of matrix polynomials

In this paper, we introduce the notions of C-numerical range and C-spectrum of matrix polynomials. Some algebraic and geometrical properties are investigated. We also study the relationship between the C-numerical range of a matrix polynomial and the joint C-numerical range of its coefficients.

Numerical Solution of Weakly Singular Ito-Volterra Integral Equations via Operational Matrix Method based on Euler Polynomials

Introduction Many problems which appear in different sciences such as physics, engineering, biology, applied mathematics and different branches can be modeled by using deterministic integral equations. Weakly singular integral equation is one of the principle type of integral equations which was introduced by Abel for the first time. These problems are often dependent on a noise source which a...

Higher rank numerical ranges of rectangular matrix polynomials

In this paper, the notion of rank-k numerical range of rectangular complex matrix polynomials are introduced. Some algebraic and geometrical properties are investigated. Moreover, for ϵ > 0; the notion of Birkhoff-James approximate orthogonality sets for ϵ-higher rank numerical ranges of rectangular matrix polynomials is also introduced and studied. The proposed denitions yield a natural genera...

Howe Pairs, Supersymmetry, and Ratios of Random Characteristic Polynomials for the Unitary Groups

— For the classical compact Lie groups K ≡ UN the autocorrelation functions of ratios of characteristic polynomials (z ,w) 7→ Det(z− k)/Det(w− k) are studied with k ∈ K as random variable. Basic to our treatment is a property shared by the spinor representation of the spin group with the Shale-Weil representation of the metaplectic group: in both cases the character is the analytic square root ...
